Design Patent
Definition: May be granted to anyone who invents a new, original, and ornamental design for an article of manufacture.
Invention
Definition: Any art or process (way of doing or making things), machine, manufacture, design, or composition of matter, or any new and useful improvement thereof, or any variety of plant, which is or may be patentable.
PALM
Definition: Patent Application Locating and Monitoring system - an internal USPTO system that is the source of status information displayed in PAIR .
CIP
Definition: Continuation-in-Part - an application filed during the lifetime of an earlier nonprovisional application, repeating some substantial portion or all of the earlier nonprovisional application.
Home Copy
Definition: A copy of an international application filed under the Patent Cooperation Treaty maintained by the receiving Office where the international application was filed.
Embodiment
Definition: A manner in which an invention can be made, used, practiced or expressed
